Robina Town Centre is one of the largest shopping centres of South-East Queensland. Teaming up with Golden Walls, the Centre put together Detour Street Art Festival, a short art festival showcasing both local and national mural artists.
With both permanent and pop-up walls being painted (by the likes of Luke Day, John Kaye, Art-work Agency, Frank & Mimi, Hansen, Mike Shankster, and Pennybridge's own Kiel Tillman) the festival sought to bring the artistic process to the forefront, with shoppers encouraged to watch mural artists install their work across programmed days.
As a local Gold Coast mural artist, Kiel was stoked to be involved in a home-grown event, and be given the freedom to create in his iconic Tillman style; bold colours, crisp blacks, lots of typography and, of course, a few epic animals too.
